Our philosophy
Your health and safety are incredibly important to us and we're grateful for the trust you put in us and our food every day. Here’s our approach to ensuring that our food lives up to that trust.
Real ingredients
All of our food is made with real ingredients grown by real people. Our in-house culinary team meticulously selects each of our ingredients. They work hand-in-hand with our Sourcing and Food Safety Quality Assurance (FSQA) teams to ensure our rigorous standards are met from beginning to end–seed to plate, as we like to call it.
Trusted partners
We’re not only meticulous about the ingredients we use; we’re also incredibly selective about who we source from. Our sourcing team starts by identifying suppliers who share our high standards. We focus on partnering with suppliers that meet third-party audited Global Food Safety Initiative Standards.
Frozen for a reason
Our frozen ingredients are harvested at peak ripeness and frozen via a process called Individual Quick Freezing (IQF) to lock in the most delicious flavor and nourishing vitamins and minerals. The IQF process drops the temperature instantly so our fruits, vegetables, nuts, grains, and legumes remain as nourishing as possible.
Our ingredients go through quality control sampling throughout this process to ensure the highest quality. All Daily Harvest ingredients are lab-tested to verify that our food safety and quality standards have been met.
Inventory Control
As part of our ingredient sourcing requirements, our ingredients undergo quality control sampling to ensure the highest quality. Additionally, all Daily Harvest ingredients are lab-tested to verify that they meet our rigorous specification standards.
Combining our ingredients
Next, we combine individual ingredients at our production facilities, incorporating them into our meals. From there, each item receives a specific lot code, which includes its name, “best by” date, and a number identifying the kitchen it was prepped in.
In addition to being regulated by FDA and applicable state and local agencies, our team conducts regular food safety inspections. Additionally, each production facility has dedicated quality control and food safety team members dedicated to ensuring that every item produced stands up to our high culinary standards and food safety requirements.
Sealed & Safely Delivered
Finally, our food is sealed in food-grade packaging and is shipped to you on dry ice to keep it safely frozen the whole way home.
